Now now Macca. Next you'll be ranting about foreigners taking your jobs and your women! Some of us might say that after 700years of Britsh rule, during which the UK did not always behave itself,that you at least owe us BBC online. Not a fair trade I grant you but it's a start. We'll forget the tyrany if you give us Dr Who!;-)

Channel 4 is an independent broadcaster, like TV3, and is not funded entirely by the licence-payer, unlike BBC or RTÉ. Therefore, they are free to run commercials, which in turn pay for the video content and general traffic on the website. BBC are not allowed broadcast material online outside of the UK, as it's not permitted for licensing reasons and because their products are to cater for the UK market only.

These online services give great publicity to the stations, along with driving revenue.

Maybe Richard could give an answer to the reasons?

…BUT why should they (Ch4) broadcast online in Ireland? WHY should the BBC go through the expense and effort of allowing another another territory to enjoy the programming paid for by UK fee payers? What's in it for the BBC/ Ch4?
