Remember this post, when I said that I wanted to go to the MTV Europe Music Awards? Now, it’s a reality. I’m going to Germany, participating in the Sony Ericsson Fanwalk 2009. The dream has come true, and all the effort has paid off!
I broke the news on my Twitter yesterday, and then shortly proceeded to tell some of my friends on colleagues on Facebook, but I never really announced it officially, until now.
Later this month, the trip of 300km, with 99 other music fans, will take place, and I will spend nearly two weeks having an incredible time in Germany. This couldn’t have happened without the help of you, and all that voted for me. I really can’t express my gratitude and appreciation to every single person who voted for me, it was so helpful, kind and encouraging. Everyday I could login to my contestant panel on the Fanwalk website and see my new comments, the votes and all the support that the public- not only friends and family- were giving me. Genuinely, without your support, this dream would not be a reality. Thank you, so very much.
To be honest, it’s only really sinking-in to my head that I’m actually going. When I received the call yesterday, stating that I had been successful, I was overjoyed and buzzing with excitement, but a part of me couldn’t believe it. Now I know that it is true, so very true. To think that I have been successful, through all the other hundreds of entries, and dozen or so in Ireland, is astounding. I also cannot wait to meet my fellow Irish Fanwalkers, from across the country, who I will be spending many days with, walking, partying and getting to know. So far they seem like a great bunch of people!
Now that I will be attending, I will sort out all the contact I can make from Germany to the world when on the walk. I no doubt will be using my phone to Twitter and speak to the world, but I will also try to host my daily Blog, time permitting, to share with you the amazing and exciting adventures I have participated in over the last 24 hours. I will update the Blog soon with all the relevant details.
However, I’ve been asked to do some publicity about my participation in the Fanwalk, and I’ve got an interview lined-up for tomorrow. You should tune in to Dublin City FM tomorrow for the “Dublin Issue” show, from 3pm. I’ll be appearing around the place a lot over the coming days, and during the remaining time, so keep and ear and an eye out.
Again, thank you everyone for your support: it really has been tremendous. You have enabled me to experience something truly wonderful, and for that I am very happy. Thank you.
Dave.
