I was pleased to be able to try out a new Irish product recently.
O'Donnell's Authentic Handcooked Crisps, made in their rustic family estate Seskin Farm in County Tipperary have hit the market, and they are truly fantastic...
Unlike the other big crisp manufacturers in the country (I'm looking at you, Tayto and Hunky Dorys), Ed O'Donnell, the man behind the operation, prides himself in delivering all the goods from scratch, and from the locality. They are using the actual potatoes grown on the land, a farm in the family's tenancy since the 1700's, along with using other Irish tastes and flavours to create and produce a absolutely delicious crisp.

The two flavours are not merely Cheese & Onion and Salt & Vinegar thrown at you from a mass produced, artificially flavoured company- they are a mouth-watering, sensory experience with salivating ingredients from across the country: Mount Callan Cheese & Red Onion for the wholesome rich taste lovers along with Irish Cider Vinegar & Sea Salt for those who demand a punchier experience. The Mount Callan variety is an award winning cheese that's been maturing in Co. Clare for 12 months, delivering an awesome flavour; the cider vinegar, created in a 2500 year old tradition, sourced from The Apply Farm in Tipperary, also. Such wonderful flavours and produce, all going into these wonderful crisps.
They really are great- you get the crunchy cooked taste when you bite into them, you smell the powerful natural ingredients when you open the bag, and you can feel the time and care that's been put into this product- you honestly can taste and see the tradition, expertise and love that's gone into it- something you miss in many other products, Irish and international, and especially in the crisp and snack industry, "homecooked" or not.

Ed and the team have got a distribution deal with Supervalu and Centra, so look out for them in your nearby stores. They genuinely are a blissful, tasty and rich crisp.
