DJ Earworm has done it again, with the United State of Pop 2010 aptly titled "Don't Stop The Pop". And, it's ace.
I've been praising for years the musical excellence and technical skill of the budding, and now hugely popular, mashup artist from San Francisco, USA. Every year he's released his end of year track, composed of the Billboard Top 25 for the previous twelve months. Regardless of the song, down to his own personal choices or anything else, he carefully cuts, chops, sews, tears, slips, slides and morphs the best selling tracks into a lullaby of audio glory, this year with arguably some of the best songs in many end of year charts. As he described on his blog, pop has gone into serious all-out party mode. This stands out in the track, filled with really energetic songs, delivered in his now distinctive style.
The songs in the chart (and the record) are:
* Ke$ha - Tik Tok
* Lady Antebellum - Need You Now
* Train - Hey, Soul Sister
* Katy Perry Featuring Snoop Dogg - California Gurls
* Usher Featuring will.i.am - OMG
* B.O.B. Featuring Hayley Williams - Airplanes
* Eminem Featuring Rihanna - Love the Way You Lie
* Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
* Taio Cruz - Dynamite
* Taio Cruz Featuring Ludacris - Break Your Heart
* B.O.B. Featuring Bruno Mars - Nothin’ On You
* Enrique Iglesias Featuring Pitbull - I Like It
* Young Money Featuring Lloyd - Bedrock
* Jason Derulo - In My Head
* Rihanna - Rude Boy
* Lady Gaga Featuring Beyonce - Telephone
* Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
* Bruno Mars - Just the Way You Are
* Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me
* The Black Eyed Peas - Imma Be
* Jay-Z + Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind
* Usher Featuring Pitbull - DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love
* Travie McCoy Featuring Bruno Mars - Billionaire
* Eminem - Not Afraid
* Iyaz - Replay
It'll be interesting to see, tomorrow I imagine, how many will feature on my end-of-year Best of music review.
