John Lennon would have been 70 this year, and as tribute his albums are being re-released in memory of the influential artist and member of The Beatles. Yoko Ono, his partner, along with professionals from Abbey Road studios and Avatar Studios in New York have got to work remastering the songs. The 121 tracks will be available on download and on CD around early October, or more specifically around the 9th of the month, which was Lennon's birthday. [NME]

Kylie Minogue's new album leaked recently and it's got overall quite good reviews, especially from the lovely folk(s) at PopJustice. They were even lucky enough to get a phone interview with her where she stated how she's more back on track (musically) since X, how she's released the best comeback tune in ages and how she has "Kylie Moments"- those special, distinctive but highly inspiring moments of emotion, found when listening to a Kylie Minogue song. [read the full interview at PopJustice]

It's quite the magazine, methinks. Why? Because Katy is on it. No other reason.

I had the pleasure of watching most of Glastonbury this week. And, after seeing Stevie Wonder play on the Sunday night, I'll agree that this was one of the best years of the festival in a long time. Many people seem to agree. If you've not seen the superb performance from the legendary musician, you can take a look here. Plus, Muse can be seen here (albeit, without their rumoured and anticipated spaceship), and pretty much every other artist that the BBC got to video.

However, what was the most important thing? Can the artists play the infamous Vuvuzela; the noisy little butter that is wrecking the World Cup that they are determined never to ban? The question was posed to the bands, and the video proves this below. Watch out for Kele Okereke, he's not into it at all.

From their latest offering, Factory is the first track from Band of Horses new album, entitled Infinite Arms. The lyrics are most interesting, and compliment the music excellently. They've been described as story-tellers, and as an album opener there couldn't be a better way to continue that title than with this wonderful track. Plus, you can download it today legitimately, free of charge. How nice is that?

It's Sunday. And, like most people, that means that it's the perfect opportunity to have a fry-up. Sausages, pudding, tomatoes and eggs, along with rashers. Personally, I'd just live with the bacon- as it's one of the best bits of the meal, especially when really crispy. I had to question my love for it, so I quizzed myself online. Apparently I'm 78% addicted to bacon. What are you?

Ever seen that rubbish sand sculpture of the dog in Dublin? Yep, the one that is the same every single day on Grafton Street? Well, check out how sand sculptures are really made... That guy should really take some tips from him.

It is well into April now, and colleges and universities are starting to have final end of year exams. If you're one of these party-hard students and would much rather drink to excess, prowl for loose women/men and generally act half your age instead of working and studying, why not consider learning how to write a 20 page research paper in under a day?

"Watercolor" by Pendulum

They are hitting the festival circuit, and they've released this brand new stomper of a track. They're still on the top of their game, and I look forward to seeing this song played live soon.

"The Reeling (Yasutaka Nakata Capsule Remix)" by Passion Pit

We all know the song, and we all love the song, but today I'm enjoying the remix. Check it out, and embrace it.

As mentioned on Twitter last night, I'm going to bring back daily more frequent Tuneskies of the Day.

I'm not trying to make this personal blog related only to music (I'll leave the legend that is Nialler9 to that), but I do like to share and ramble on about some audio delights that I encounter or listen to. On the microblog I will attempt to keep it regular, with a Tuneskie at least daily, but the website will not be as frequent.

Got it? Okay. Let's go.

Billy Talent - "Saint Veronika"

Taken off Billy Talent III, the latest offering from the Canadian punk outfit, Saint Veronika is the new single- the video of which made its début on the bands Myspace page on February 1st. Hearing Benjamin's voice (the lead vocalist) brings me straight back to the days when I was listening to their first album. Although the tracks are darker on the newer material, it still gives a delivers a loud, angst-ridden sound. The intro to the video itself could be something from Slipknot, but it is nonetheless worth watching and hearing.

MGMT - "Time to Pretend"

Congratulations will be hitting our world on April 13th, and I'm pretty excited about it. New material will be a nice change from the constant radio airplay of Kids and Electric Feel: not that I don't love these songs, and the old album for that matter, but I know that this band can (hopefully) offer another selection of cracking tunes, and if we're lucky, another memorable performance at Oxegen.

Yes. I still cannot get over the tent at Oxegen 2008, the band leaving the stage due to that drunk chick' (and everyone else) climbing the support beams, and returning to deliver a highly charged emotional rendition of some of their biggest songs. That really was an incredible show.

Take it away, Time to Pretend and take us back to where it all began...

The Bloody Beetroots feat. Steve Aoki - Warp (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)

There's no video for this (and I'm glad there isn't- it would be bizarre), but it's the Chewy Chocolate Cookies remix of Warp from the 2009 release Romborama. It's funky, it's fun, and it's most definitely a song to listen to as we approach the weekend.

Tag!

Tomorrow morning I am departing on another magical journey, only this time to Munich, Germany, where I shall be meeting up with the lovely folks from the Sony Ericsson Fanwalk that way back in October of last year. However, the main thing is the album launch from German Brit-pop band, Pardon Ms Arden, who were the "official band" of the Fanwalk. Their brand (spanking) new record is out on Friday, and we're heading from across Europe to be a part of this important occasion.

Speaking about the band, I'm going to start getting their name out here in Ireland, and along with my fellow fans in the United Kingdom. They are really a talented group of musicians who offer an upbeat, well crafted show and provide truly excellent, lively music. They are undoubtedly radio worthy, and if their album isn't a hit I'll be genuinely shocked.

Since travelling to Germany last summer for a holiday glorified piss-up with friends and from returning (unexpectadly) for the Fanwalk, I've grown to love the nation. The people are lovely, the scenery and the varieties of city are incredible and the overall experience is most enjoyable. Even thought I speak Spanish, I enjoy what Germany has to offer.

As usual, I will try to update my Twitter account on the go, along with my Foursquare (for those who I really know). I will also attempt to drop a Blog or two on the weekend. But, for now, I leave you with some videos and songs from Pardon Ms Arden- your new favourite band.

Auf Wiedersehen.

As promised, Tuneskies of the Day have returned, and what a fantastic day to bring the famous infamous posts back upon.

Hadouken! - "For The Masses" (Album)

Hadouken! have returned with the release of their latest offering, For The Masses, which brings a new sound to the band which were described as past of the creation of Nu-Rave, along with Klaxons and of course, Shitdisco. For The Masses delivers the band's darker lyrics and music, a far more aggressive and pounding sound than their 2008 debut Music for an Accelerated Culture. Standout tracks include "M.A.D." and the mind blowing "Turn the Lights Out". The album was produced by the Dutch Drum and Bass trio, Noisia, who have worked with the likes of The Prodigy and, somehow, artists such as Robbie Williams- but don't let that last one turn your off.

You can listen to the album, in full (legally), and you can buy it in the usual locations.

Example - "Won't Go Quietly"

Elliot John Gleave isn't a name you hear everyday, but hearing his stage name will become a regular thing for you very soon. Example has achieved great success already thanks to support from big names on BBC and after being signed by Mike Skinner, the mastermind behind The Streets, who put him on his record label. What We Made, released in 2007 firmly placed him as a strong musician and rapper, who could offer excellent lyrics whilst giving catchy beats and a sense of humour. Won't Go Quietly, the latest single from the upcoming record of the same name, isn't one of the hilarious offerings he has shown before, but it's got a sound that will stick in your head for hours in a most appreciated way.

The track was physically released a few days ago, and has already been getting a moderate spin on the radio, but this performer, and his music will explode to great heights this year, in a fashion similar to Calvin Harris: Big in their own respective right for one or two albums, then dominating the charts after the release of their new albums.

Example - Keep an eye on this artist.

The XX - "Stars (Dave Wrangler Remix)"

Dave Wrangler produces music that'll make you feel good, mashing and mixing songs from dozens of different genres. He's dropping his record Under The Influence next month (February 10th), but until then I fully recommend this remix of The XX's "Stars".

It's no comparison to the original, but it's got a great sound to it.

Well, have you seen the latest parody?

It's by The Midnight Beast, featuring St£fan, a group of witty and lyrically bonkers Englishmen, who've ripped Tik Tok to shreds, and left a track that will stick in your head.

Today's Tuneskie of the Day is from 3OH3! featuring Katy Perry, called Starstrukk.

The track was originally released on the band's album, Want, back in 2008, but was released in the States and other countries as a radio only single earlier this year with the vocal talents of Katy Perry to add a new dimension to the song. It's currently getting a lot of airplay, and the video has just started to spin on European music channels too. Quite simply, it's going to be huge.

The reason it's the Tuneskie of the Day is because I got to witness the music video accompanying the track earlier today, for the first time (a bit behind time, I know), and I found it excellent. It perfectly suits the edginess of the song, and, most of all, it has hottie, Katy Perry in it.

It's well worth checking out, and it's a track that is well worth buying.

Kick off your weekend with this tune, and embrace the "Jake Stevens/PJ Gallagher" whistle, sampled in it. Don't believe me? Have a listen.

(It didn't really intend to sound like it, I imagine)

Sure, I may have enjoyed the Timbaland collaboration on "4 Minutes", but this is something so very different. I hope I don't get a tough time over acknowledging that on my Last.fm profile. I did get enough slagging for listening to Same Difference and Shakira.

Without further adieu, please welcome the return of...

Most people know that I'm a huge fan of Editors, and I'm loving their new album and the lead track Papillon.

Christopher Walken steals the show...

The YouTube phenomenon, with a great track and a brilliant video.
And, sure, it's not very fast or jazzy for Wicked Wednesday, but it's got a great video: created without special effects, where Tom Yorke really did become submerged in water. Fantastic song, gobsmacking video.

Did you ever flush your goldfish down the toilet when it started to float to the surface, with one little fin slowly flapping for life, as it lay there dazed, and dying? Descriptive, but you get the point.

Well, one goldfish suffered the same fate, but the little trooper found life again and swam his way to safety, only to be found (and rescued, if you will) by the local waterworks in Lanarkshire, England. Pretty astounding, I think you'll agree. I think the strangest bit is that Jake Huey, the worker, decided to retrieve it from the plant and pop it into a tank.

Bonkers.

What is not so crazy is this. Remember Prefab Sprout, the new wave band from Durham in England (Hot Dog... Jumping Frog... Albuquerque!)? They're back next month, with a brand spanking new album, entitled "Let's Change the World with Music", which for some strange reason, I'm actually looking forward to hearing.

Mew, the best thing to come out of Scandinavia, are also releasing their new record, briefly called "No More Stories/Are Told Today/I'm Sorry/They Washed Away//No More Stories/The World Is Grey/I'm Tired/Let's Wash Away". "Introducing Palace Players" is the first single dropping from the album, in three days time, 24th August, so I'm excited about hearing that track, and the entire record, from such a talented band- who, humourously, call themselves "pretentious art rock" and "the world's only indie stadium band". Can't wait.

Let's not forget the young, gifted and gorgeous Pixie Lott, whose debut release, "Turn it Up", is hitting our shelves on the fourteenth of next month. With "Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)" amongst other tracks, it's set to be a big one. Ms. Victoria Lott has a lott to offer (Get it?) and there is certainly room in the charts for her. Bring it on, Vicky.

Tuneskies of the Day

To gear you up for the spoken releases, today I feature Prefab Sprout, Mew and Pixie Lott herself.
Indeed, I do want it. And the best bit? It's in my new favourite city: Berlin.

The star-studded event, showcasing the best of music in Europe, is taking place in November. I'm thinking of heading.

After all, it's in a superb city, which I am only back recently from, and it's set to be a good year, with all the new fantastic songs and musical artists who appeared this year.

Drop on down to the website now. Hopefully I'll see you there.

Indeed. It's another shameless Calvin Harris blog, and I'm praising his work again. But, it's perfectly allowed. Why? Because "Ready for the Weekend" is out today, in Ireland, anyway.

If you've not heard all the tracks, you can do so by popping down to his website and signing up to the mailing list, which grants you access to stream the album in full. Ace.

The tracklist is as follows, for those of you who don't know:

1. The Rain
2. Ready For The Weekend
3. Stars Come Out
4. You Used To Hold Me
5. Blue
6. I'm Not Alone
7. Flashback
8. Worst Day - Calvin Harris & Izza Kizza
9. Relax
10. Limits
11. Burns Night
12. Yeah Yeah Yeah La La La
13. Dance Wiv Me
14. 5iliconeator

No doubt you've heard "Ready for the Weekend", "Dance Wiv Me" and "I'm Not Alone", or even the track "Yeah Yeah Yeah La La La", which is featured on the new Coca-Cola advert. But, the record doesn't stop there, and holds substance throughout, despite what Alexis Petridis in the Guardian may think.

I've always enjoyed The Guardian, and find it better than most newspapers (not to mention my connection with them, or the allegiance which many people don't know about), but on a side note, this review wasn't the greatest, and didn't tell the story fully. Just search any other review and it's different. Shocking, Alexis.

But, back to "Ready for the Weekend", check it out. It's that blast of summer pop and electro that you need to wash away those blues. Mr. Harris, well done.

Shameless plug, over and out.

"Ready for the Weekend" is out now in Ireland, and elsewhere on August 16.

I popped out to a Tripod last night for a night on the tiles, especially since it was a Headphone Disco, which usually is good fun, as seen as the summer festivals, such as Oxegen and Electric Picnic, to name but a few. So, yours truly popped down to the venue, and due to the evening being the 'Leaving Certificate Results Night' they were checking photo identification on everyone. Naturally I didn't mind too much, but suddenly became baffled.

The security guard took my ID and glanced at it. Looked up at me again, and focused on the ID again.

"David O'Keeffe", he said.

"Yes...?"

"Dave. (paused for a minute, then looked at me firmly) Any trouble, or messing, and you're out. Seriously. On the street"

"(Taken aback) Absolutely, sure; there will be no hassle, don't worry.", I replied, relatively bemused.

"Seriously, any of your crazy dancing, in it's excitable strangeness, you're out."

It's shocking when the security know you can't dance, and know who you are.

Watch out kids, if you go out too much, they really start to know who you are. And, they criticise your dancing.

I'm back since last night. And, it's already raining.

I was totally knackered after the long journey from Bristol to Fishguard, Fishguard to Rosslare on the Stena Line craft, and back to Dublin on our bus. But, I've had worse journeys.

As you probably saw from my Twitter posts over the week (or so), I visited many wonderful places in Wales and England. One place I attended was the excellent AT-Bristol, a since and learning exhibition at the Harbourside Waterfront, which itself is magnificient. The Severn Bridge, the gigantic two kilometre structure which connects England to Wales was another attraction I visited. A very long walk, on a very hot day, brought me across this incredible bridge. My feet were worn off me, but it was worth it. Lets not forget the other adventures I went on, such as my rock-climbing, abseiling, canoeing, archery and use of a zipline just outside of Thornbury.

Night-life is something else in Bristol too, and it took one great evening to prove this. A meal, then a stopover to The Waterside for a few casual drinks and a little dance, then a trip to the mind blowing Oceana Club confirmed that this city was the place to be. Dublin cannot party like the people of Bristol.
A slight re-jigging of the title from the Mark Twain novel explains my movements this evening. At the crack of dawn tomorrow, Saturday, I will depart for Bristol. How luxurious, how exotic- I think you'll agree.

It's not quite the amazing fun you'll have at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Ibiza, but hopefully it won't be too bad. After all, it's not really a vacation. That was my trip to Berlin, Germany, two weeks ago. This is more, work orientated.

It appears that Bristol has a lot going for it. Some of it's children include Banksy, the truly talented graffiti artist, along with the self-professed caveman, Mr. Justin Lee Collins and of course, the sweaty Lee Evans. Oh, and that other guy.

Anyway, I best go pack my bags.

This is the latest offering from the brilliant electro/house producer, Deadmau5, entitled "Ghosts 'n' Stuff".

The vocals you'll notice, now on the track, is from Rob Swire, the lead singer with the electrifying Pendulum. The reason I picked this track today was because of the line-up at the spoken of Ibiza 2009 gigs taking place this weekend. The duo (Deadmau5 and Swire) are appearing at several times, and are definitely worth tuning into. "Ghosts 'n' Stuff" will put you in the party mood, this Friday night. Check out the Ibiza 2009 schedule here.
She's still around. Yep, and this is her new one, it's called "Radar" and it's already starting to bloat the radio due to it's heavy rotation. But, with all tracks you hear on the wireless, you may not have seen the video.

I'm still trying to figure out the point of it. Is she trying to be posh, with all the horses and the 'finer' things in life, or is she just a tarty stable girl who's put on her gladrags to get in the trousers of the rich polo player?

Britney, you've got my attention with this, but for all the wrong reasons. It's just baffling me.

Hallo.

Let's celebrate. Seriously, we need any excuse for a party.

Today I revamped the website, which was running on an archaic version of Drupal, for those of you who are interested. Now, I've finally made the switch to WordPress, enabling me update and speak my mind, in the easiest (and laziest) way possible, as the system is so, well, simplistic. Can't really complain about that really.

Seems all good? It certainly is. However, there is one problem. I've lost my bloody articles. All of them.

All my content from my last website was no able to be 'ported' or 'migrated' into the new website. So, I've not got all my old stories, updates and posts: including the selected few that recieve a *huge* amount of hits. Pretty shite, I think you'll agree. But, never fear. After making a bet with a colleague some few weeks ago, he owes me one, thus the new site will be populated with the old content very soon. After all, he owes me one.

Tuneskies of the Day

I've been doing a hell of a lot of work today, for Blast FM, and preparing to depart to England for a few days, among 101 other things, so I've been listening to a great deal of tunes. However, here's some you should check out, if you've not done so already.

I know it's been out for a good while now, but it still is a quality track.

Plus, from listening to BBC Radio 1 today, it's really got stuck in my head. Also, Natalie is a babe.

"Crazy Hippie Florence", as she was described on today's 'UK Top 20 Countdown'. Regardless, this is a superb track, and most definitely one of the stand-out track on the debut album 'Lungs', which you should rush out and buy, if you have not done so already.

Bizarre as it may be, it's still something I came across this morning. Nirvana have been transformed in a mashup, only this time, with Rick Astley. It's bonkers, but still very, very good.
