"Swabbie swashbucklers’ listen"

Channel 4. One of the good guys in broadcasting. And, they’ve done another nice thing. They’ve brought back their streaming video service, 4oD, to Ireland.
Richard Davidson-Houston contacted my friend, Shane McEntee, today via Twitter and declared the news, and I came to see the press release on the Channel 4 Products website.
Alison Crowe, from Channel 4 said:
As of this morning the Channel 4 On Demand service is now available for users in the Republic of Ireland. The 4oD app used to be available but unfortunately we could not make the service on C4.com available immediately, because we were not able to differentiate between content where we had rights for ROI and content where we did not. Apologies for this interruption to service. The good news is that we can now do this! So the majority of the content on 4oD is now available for you to watch. We don’t have the rights for absolutely everything, but hopefully your favourite shows will be there. Enjoy!
Finally, I can watch Derren Brown again, and all those episodes of Shameless. I really shouldn’t have paid all that money on The Inbetweeners box set after all.
Thanks Channel 4 for bringing back the service, and getting rid of the awful desktop player.
Now, BBC, can you match that, and allow your programming for us on the Emerald Isle?

Speaks for itself, really.
This is why your Mom isn’t on the social networking site.

On a Geeky related note, yours truly is heading to the Windows 7 Launch. Why? Because I can.
Now, that’s geeky. But, there’s nothing better than a day off, free merch, and something to gloat about to your IT crazy colleagues.
Let’s not forget, you can still vote on this.

Okay, they’re in. Here’s who you can now vote for at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2009. The nominees were announced at 12am this morning. Where was I? Eagerly anticipating them.
In Short
Lady Gaga and Kings of Leon are equal in nominations, with 5 each. Green Day, Leona Lewis and Tokio Hotel are the first three acts announced to perform at the event. Best Video is to be decided by the MTV Judges, but it’s more than likely, I think, going to be Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies”. After all, it’s not going to be Taylor Swift, is it? Sure, “Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time”. I’ll post a list of my predictions another time after I’ve had a think about it, but one thing is certain, it should make for a very interesting event. Gaga vs. Kings of Leon is something I want to see.
All this entertainment, in Berlin, 20 years after the fall of the wall, and 15 years since the first EMA shall be quite special. C’mon November 5th! Hopefully I get to see it in person, however.

And, boy am I excited. This year, naturally, I’m really caught up in the festivites. So, I will be eager to see who’s up for the public voting. The categories are as follows:
Also, there’s the regional acts. Here at home we’ve got out UK & Ireland Act, where the nominees are composed of:
It’s Talk Like a Pirate Day. Therefore, I must continue this Blog in Pirate Speak.
International Talk Like a Pirate Day be a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol` Chumbucket) an’ Mark Summers (Cap`n Slappy), o’ Albany, Oregon, who proclaimed Septembree 19 each voyage as th’ tide when sea dogs an’ land lubbers in th’ world ortin’ ta talk like a swashbuckler. Fer example, an obser’er o’ this holiday would greet shipmates nay wi’ “Arrrr,” but wi’ “Ahoy, me hearty!”.
Every voyage, th’ tide be celebrated across th’ world as millions take part in th’ festivities. Today, I will drink an’ behave like a swashbuckler. Shoutin’, cursin’ an’ bein’ louder than usual. I will play “I’m on a Boat” lots, on repeat. Also, a Seafarin’ hearty Party will take place.
Talk t’ ye soon.
